Big Lottery Fund: transforming local infrastructure consultation event
Date and time: 27 September 9.30am-12.30pm
Venue: Voluntary Action LeicesterShire, 9 Newarke Street, Leicester LE1 5SN
The Big Lottery Fund has received funding from the Office of Civil Society to improve the support that is provided to local voluntary and community organisations. The fund is for managing changes that will make support services more effective, efficient and sustainable in the longer term.
In order to ensure that the changes that we are proposing are those that are needed by frontline VCS groups and supported by funders, we would like to invite you to a consultation event on 27 September from 9.30am - 12.30pm at Voluntary Action LeicesterShire to present proposals and ask for your views and suggestions, and which you think should be priorities. This should be a lively session in which we can all think about how we plan for the future and work better together.
Possible projects for discussion are:
- Working with the private sector - how can we increase local giving, employee volunteering and professional help?
- Consortium working and collaboration - working together to ensure that local services meet communities' needs and can be delivered by VCS organisations
- Brokering peer to peer support - how do we set up systems for VCS groups to be able to support each other, including skills development and sharing resources?
- Transforming volunteering - what do we need to do to support more people to volunteer in high quality opportunities?
- Support for small groups - how can smaller community groups access appropriate support and basic resources?
- Leadership, voice and data - are there changes that we need to share our data and other intelligence and better lead and represent the sector to influence decisions?

We will also ask you some basic questions about your organisation to ensure that we are getting a cross section of groups.
