It’s that time of year again – our annual conference for the Voluntary and Community Sector (VCS) in Leicester and Leicestershire is taking place on 11 September 2017. As ever, we’ve put together a great line-up of speakers and workshops designed to help local VCS groups network, develop and thrive.

What’s on the agenda?

  • Learn from Leicestershire Partnership NHS Trust (LPT) about how organisations can get involved in Sustainability and Transformation Partnerships (STPs)
  • With the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) coming into effect from May 2018, our workshops on cybersecurity and data protection will help you to get ahead of the game and avoid potentially costly pitfalls like the recent fines imposed on the NSPCC and Oxfam
  • Find out more about how Social Prescribing is being delivered nationally
  • Groups will have the chance to attend workshops with the Rural Community Council and the Plunkett Foundation to learn how to make the most out of community assets
  • As always, you'll have the opportunity to network with other local VCS groups and hopefully build new collaborations and partnerships

You can find a full list of the day's workshops on our event page.

VCS Panel Discussion

We’ll also be holding a panel session – our confirmed panellists are:

  • Chris Hobson, Director of Policy and External Affairs for the East Midlands Chamber (Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire)
  • Roger Thompson, Action on Hearing Loss
  • Noel Singh, Leicestershire County Council
  • Caro Hart, Leicestershire Aids Support Service

Feedback from last year's Future Focus

"This is my fourth year of attending and I am never disappointed by the event. This is an excellent opportunity for the local VCS to learn, thrive and grow."

"I really found it inspiring to view and listen to other organisations that are successfully delivering with little resources, or few resources."

"A well run event which a good variety of organizations attended which helped with networking."
