Children & Young People

Over recent years the development of children & young people’s services has centred around a significant change agenda, led nationally by the Every Child Matters programme and locally by the development of Children’s Trust arrangements. Safeguarding and Children’s Workforce development agendas have also been predominant. Running throughout has been the promotion of the need to establish stronger multi-agency / cross-sector partnership arrangements and integrated working practices.

Leicester City, Leicestershire County and Rutland County all have developing Children’s Trust arrangements, which oversee the development and implementation of services for children and young people (CYP) in each local authority area. Nationally and locally the Voluntary & Community Sector is recognised as a significant contributor to the CYP agenda, and an important partner to effectively engage and involve in change.
