The Vetting and Barring Scheme

The Vetting and Barring Scheme has been halted. This means registration will not start as scheduled on 26th July. New safeguards brought in under the scheme in October 2009 are still in place.

Leicestershire's Hidden Hero of the Year 2010 - the final five

After receiving an overwhelming number of fantastic nominations the Hidden Hero panel had the difficult task of choosing the top five.

The five have now been decided and your votes are now needed to decide on the winner. Voting begins on Monday 14 June.

Compact Leicestershire Consultation Event

Compact Leicestershire is an event that will be of interest to all groups and organisations that undertake work within Leicestershire County and currently do, or anticipate, working with statutory agencies and bodies. Compact is about the relationship between the Voluntary and Community Sector and the statutory service and funding providers.

The first Leicestershire Compact was launched in June 2003. Compact Leicestershire seeks to build upon the work undertaken through the original Compact agreement, reflect the new National Guidance and address local issues and opportunities in this time of economic and social change.

Grassroots Grants up to £5000 available

If you are a small group working in Leicester and have an average turnover of less than £30,000 over the last three years you may be eligible to apply to the Grassroots Grants programme available in Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Elections for Voluntary & Community Sector (VCS) representation on the Leicester Children's Trust Board

A meeting is being held to elect VCS representatives for the Leicester Children's Trust Board, which is the top level multi-agency partnership for developing services for children & young people in the City. The Leicester Children and Young People's Strategic Partnership (LCYPSP) has changed into the Leicester Children's Trust Board.

Two FREE accredited courses for the Voluntary Sector from VAL in conjunction with Leicester College

VAL are pleased to announce two FREE training courses on offer from May to early July this year for staff and volunteers of organisations in Leicester and Leicestershire. The courses will be held both at VAL and Leicester College's Layton Road centre and involve one morning a week for 10 weeks.
