Financial Management Recording Income and Expenditure

Aims

The aim of this session is to provide participants with an understanding of effective methods to record income and expenditure and why using such methods will assist in the smooth running of their organisation.

Objectives

After the session participants will be able to:

  • Describe the features of good financial management for voluntary organisations
  • Explain who within an organisation has responsibility for ensuring that finances are managed efficiently
  • Explain the legal requirements on organisations to keep accurate financial records
  • Record income and expenditure in a cashbook
  • Reconcile bank statements against the cashbook

Duration of session

The session is two hours long although it can be tailored to the personal needs of your group at the agreement of the trainer.

This session is part of VAL's ‘core training' offer. Core training is available to voluntary and community sector groups free of charge at a venue of your choosing. You will be required to cover the cost of your venue and any refreshments you require on the day. VAL also require a minimum number of ten people on any session.
