Interested in receiving expert assistance and up to £10,000 to explore your heritage?
A new project entitled Building Shared Heritages: Cultural Diversity in Leicester¹ has been launched by the University of Leicester to enable the university to work in partnership with local communities. The project will generate opportunities for Leicester-based groups and organisations to receive funding of up to £10,000 to explore their heritage in Leicester through activities such as visits, research enquiry, staging events and other possibilities.
Experts from the University of Leicester will make themselves available to assist with securing funding and investigating key themes. The project will also allow groups to utilise the vast resources and archives held at the University of Leicester. The project is funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund as part of their All Our Stories¹ national initiative to document The Great British Story¹ for a new BBC television series.
The project will instigate questions about a variety of topics including:
- Trading Heritage in Leicester
- Sport, Music, and Social Heritage in Leicester
- Civic and Public Heritage in Leicester
- Open Spaces and the Built Environment in Leicester
- Memory of Community, Home, and Local Area Heritage in Leicester
Local groups and individuals can find out more by attending a free open day on 6th June between 10:30am and 4:00pm at University of Leicester.
