Volunteers Week is an annual national event celebrating the work of millions of volunteers across the UK. Volunteers Week takes place between 1-7 June, and we will be appearing at a number of events to promote volunteering in Leicester and Leicestershire.

About Volunteers Week

Volunteers week takes place on the 1-7 June every year and is run by NCVO in partnership with Volunteer Development Scotland, Volunteer Now (Northern Ireland) and Wales Council for Voluntary Action. You can find out more on the Volunteers Week website.

How we’re celebrating

To help celebrate Volunteers Week and to promote the value of volunteering in local communities, we’ll be appearing at three events:

  • Riverside Festival: Riverside Festival runs annually in the centre of Leicester and includes fun activities, food stalls, arts and crafts and lots more. We will be running a drop-in stall on 3 June where people can learn more about VAL and how they can get involved in volunteering.
  • Coalville Library: We'll be at Coalville Library on 2 June from 10:30am to 1pm, where volunteer involving organisations (VIOs) will be joining us to speak directly to people who are interested in volunteering.
  • Oadby Volunteering Fair: We'll be celebrating National Volunteers' Week with a Volunteering Fair in Oadby on 6 June. Join us to find out about volunteering and get involved in one of our interactive sessions.

We’ll be holding drop-in sessions in our Volunteer Centre in the middle of Leicester city every weekday during Volunteers Week, between 10.30am and 12.30pm. You'll have the opportunity to chat with one of our friendly volunteering advisors. You don't need an appointment and meeting with an advisor is completely free.

We'll also have drop-in sessions in the county:

  • Thursday 1 June at Harborough Library, 10am to 12pm
  • Wednesday 7 June at Hinckley Library, 10am to 12pm
