Healthy Futures Opening Doors to courses and careers in Health and Social Care
Date: Thursday 18 March, 2010
Time: 1pm - 6pm
Location: The Adult Education College, Wellington Street, Leicester, LE1 6HL
Do you dream of having a future in the Health and Social Care sector? Ever thought about pursuing a career as a speech therapist, foster parent or a nurse? Then LeicestHERday's Healthy Futures event is made for you.
This FREE event is being held on Thursday 18 March 2010 with two sessions from 1pm-3pm and 4pm-6pm. It promises to be a fun and informative day designed to encourage women and girls to pursue skills and jobs in the Health and Social Care sector.
The day will offer attendees the chance to interact with people who have achieved successful careers in these fields and put their questions to them. Practical workshop sessions are available for all who attend. All of which are designed to give people the chance to explore the Health and Social care sector through hands on activities.
The event is funded by the Skills for Sustainable Communities Lifelong Learning Network (SSCLLN), a partnership of colleges and universities in Leicestershire, Northamtonshire, Lincolnshire and Rutland. Laura Mills from the Network says: "We are delighted to support this event to help people living in Leicester find out more about the exciting careers and education opportunities available. We hope to run similar events in other sectors if the event is a success."
Opportunities in the Health and Social Care industries are thriving but many may feel discouraged from entering such careers as they do not think they have the right skills or talent. However, this event will show that it is possible to have successful careers in these industries and will inspire attendees to reach for their aspirations.
Kate Merrett, Conference and Event Co-ordinator for LeicestHERday Trust said: ‘This is a fabulous opportunity to come along and see the variety of courses and careers currently available. It should be a real eye opener and we hope to inspire all our visitors.'
All are welcome, please fill in an online registration form or contact Kate Merrett on 0116 257 5615 for more details.
