Representatives wanted for VCS and Public Sector Strategy Groups in Leicester and Leicestershire
Voluntary Action LeicesterShire is currently working with others to set up two Strategy Groups, who will take on the role in the future from the Compact Groups in the city and county in partnership with Leicestershire Together and One Leicester.
We are looking for people who are members of local VCS groups and:
- Are committed to the role of the VCS in improving lives in Leicester or Leicestershire.
- Want to influence the relationships between the public sector and the VCS.
- Want to be part of developing a vision for the role of the VCS in the city or the county.
- Are able to work with other members of the VCS to achieve this.
These are groups that are following on from the Compact Groups, one for the city and one for the county with both VCS and public sector membership. The role of the strategy groups will be to develop the relationship between the VCS and public sectors to develop a strong and vibrant VCS in Leicester and Leicestershire.
There will be nine representatives in the county and eight in the city. Members will initially be elected for a two-year period and people can apply for one or both positions.

Leicestershire Voluntary and Community Sector Representatives for Leicestershire Together Partnership
Voluntary Action LeicesterShire would like to invite nominations for two Voluntary and Community Sector Representatives starting in January 2012. We are seeking nominations for the following boards:

The Leicestershire Children and Young People's Commissioning Board
The Board will cover services to all children and young people from pre-birth to 19 who are resident in the county of Leicestershire, and young people up to the age of 25 who are looked after children, have a disability or have special educational needs. The Board will lead and agree setting of priorities for services for children and young people's services in support of Leicestershire's Sustainable Community Strategy. They will also ensure and monitor delivery of services to achieve the agreed priorities. - The Children and Young People Executive
The Leicestershire Children and Young People's Executive will manage and make recommendations on services in Leicestershire so that the agreed Leicestershire Sustainable Communities Strategy priorities are met. The Executive will cover services to all children and young people from pre-birth to 19 who are resident in the County of Leicestershire, and young people up to the age of 25 who are looked after children, have a disability or have special educational needs.
