VAL and partners successful in Transforming Local Infrastructure fund

Voluntary Action LeicesterShire has been awarded £941,996 by the Office for Civil Society's Transforming Local Infrastructure fund.The successful bid will radically improve the support available to local community groups across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.

Kevan Liles, Voluntary Action LeicesterShire chief executive said, "This award will help community groups to manage the massive changes that are taking place in their operating environment. It will enable them to thrive despite the challenging times, and help equip them to deliver services and support into the future."

The bid will help community groups collaborate to create new and better services and compete for bigger contracts. Increasing private sector giving is also a key focus.

Working alongside Voluntary Action LeicesterShire will be a range of partners; Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland Community Foundation, the Race Equality Centre, Leicestershire and Rutland Rural Community Council, Leicester Centre for Integrated Living, African Caribbean Citizens Forum, Communities in Partnership, Leicestershire Ethnic Minority Partnership and Voluntary Action Rutland.
