VAL helps St Matthew's estate in Leicester gain £1m from National Lottery

Simon Jenner, group support manager at Voluntary Action LeicesterShire said, "As part of our Stand Up For Communities campaign we are working with a range of partners to reduce the harm caused by public funding cuts. Voluntary Action LeicesterShire provides support to local volunteers and community organisations and we identified St. Matthews as an ideal area for this programme.

'We believe that it is increasingly important to target funding at areas with the highest levels of social need. St. Matthews is a particularly deprived estate but has a number of active volunteers and community groups that should benefit from this investment and continue to play a role in improving the lives of local residents'
