Sport England opens second round of community funding

Sport England has opened its second funding round for applications, as part of a £50million programme to refurbish and improve up to 1,000 community sports projects through the Inspired Facilities fund.

Part of the Places People Play legacy programme to bring the magic of a home Olympic and Paralympic Games into communities across the country, key aspects of this fund include:

  • Applications must demonstrate that the proposed project is community led and sustainable
  • VCS organisations can apply for grants between £20,000 and £50,000
  • Up to 70% of the funding has been set aside for VCS projects
  • Sport England will make up to 1,000 grants available between 2011-2014
