Leicester City Council budget consultation update

Leicester City Council have published their budget proposals for the next three years, and are consulting on them until 31 January. Last week VAL held a series of workshop sessions to help VCS groups feed in their concerns.

The issues raised and views expressed will form part of VAL's joint response to the consultation which we will post on our website as soon as possible after the closing date of 31 January.

Proposed EDL march

The English Defence League (EDL) have notified police of their intention to march in Leicester city centre on 4 February 2012. VAL, like many other organisations, do not welcome public protests of this type which target a specific racial minority community and can be damaging to community relations.
