NCVO Trustee Conference - Governing with confidence: leading through change

Volunteering England will be exhibiting at NCVO's Annual Trustee Conference, taking place on Monday 18 October in London. The event is aimed at anybody who sits on, or works with, trustee boards. With a broad range of workshops, the conference will cater for those new to trusteeship through to the experienced board member looking to update their knowledge. All those wanting to share in the latest thinking on governance and leadership practices should make sure that they attend.

The Co-operative launches £21m campaign to inspire young people

Last month, the Co-operative Group launched a £21m campaign to help to reverse the negative image and treatment of those aged 25 and under and support their future life goals and ambitions. This includes the creation of a new Apprenticeship Academy that will provide 2,000 posts over the next two years.

New funding from Sport England

Young Sport England will be reopening its Sustainable Facilities Fund for applications on Tuesday 26 October.

The funding is designed to support innovative projects that transform places where people go to take part in sort. Eligible organisations include sports clubs, voluntary or community organisations and local authorities.

Final deadline for Access to Volunteering grants

Access to Volunteering is a pilot scheme from the Office for Civil Society that provides grants of between £250 and £5,000 to voluntary and community organisations that help disabled people to volunteer. To date, 283 organisations have received funding but the pilot scheme is closing and the final deadline for new applications is Monday 6 September.

Volunteers needed for this year's Poppy Appeal

This year's Poppy Appeal runs from Saturday 30 Oct to Sunday 14 November and volunteers are needed to help out, particularly in the Hinckley and Bosworth area.

If you are interested in volunteering in the Hinckley and Bosworth area then a meeting is being held to give more information on 15 September 2010 6:30pm-7:30pm at the Pathways Centre, Hinckley Baptist Church.
