Final deadline for Access to Volunteering grants
Access to Volunteering is a pilot scheme from the Office for Civil Society that provides grants of between £250 and £5,000 to voluntary and community organisations that help disabled people to volunteer. To date, 283 organisations have received funding but the pilot scheme is closing and the final deadline for new applications is Monday 6 September.
Examples of current funded projects include:
The Ramblers Association, Greater London: received just over £2,000 to design, trial, promote and launch an ‘Accessible Walks' programme.
Arts 50 Alive!, the West Midlands: received £5,000 to fund an ‘Allotment Project' that partners disabled adults with young people in a combination of traditional activities, such as gardening and jam making, with present day computer and IT skills.
The Everton Foundation, the North West: received just under £5,000 to give 10 disabled volunteers training in sports coaching, refereeing, IT, web design, office administration and PR.
