The Role of the Committee
Aims
This session, sometimes referred to as roles and responsibilities of a committee, aims to give you an understanding of the role of a management committee in ensuring the smooth running of the organisation, the importance of developing an awareness of an organisation's governing document and the functions of officers such as treasurer, chair and secretary.
By the end of the session participants will be able to:
- Explain the purpose of management committees
- Explain the key functions of treasurer, chair and secretary
- Describe the importance of governing document to an organisation
- List the key responsibilities of the management committee
Duration of session:
The session is two hours long although it can be tailored to the personal needs of your group at the agreement of the trainer.
This session is part of VAL's ‘core training' offer. Core training is available to voluntary and community sector groups free of charge at a venue of your choosing. You will be required to cover the cost of your venue and any refreshments you require on the day. VAL also require a minimum number of ten people on any session.
