Strategic Partnerships

Leicestershire Together

Leicestershire Together is currently reviewing its partnership structure. The consultation document is available to download below. They identify that this is to streamline and simplify the partnership structure to respond to the new environment and to have a clearer division between commissioners and providers.

The proposal is that there should be:

  • A Public Services Board and Executive
  • Five Commissioning Boards - Health and Wellbeing, Children and Young People, Local Enterprise Partnership, Stronger
  • Communities, and Environment
  • Locality Boards at District Level

Planning and Monitoring Groups to inform the work of the Boards.
It is proposed that there should be a cross cutting group on the VCS. In addition at present VAL understands that the VCS is included in the Children and Young People Group and the Local Enterprise Partnership and will be represented on the Planning and Monitoring Groups. The involvement of the VCS on the top board has not yet been decided.

VAL has submitted a response to the proposal welcoming the simplification of the structures, and arguing that the VCS should be involved at all levels, bringing our intelligence, experience and resources to shape the future of the county. Other points are that there should be the ability to commission across themes; the cross cutting VCS Strategy Group should be formed from a change to the existing Compact Implementation Group; and that stronger communities work needs to be picked up, focusing on how stronger outcomes are commissioned across the partnership as a whole.

Leicester Partnership

We know that more gets done if people in an area work together. Therefore, our job is bring together the different parts of the public sector as well as the private, business, community and voluntary sectors so that different initiatives and services support each other. We are a single overarching local co-ordination framework within which other partnerships in Leicester can operate. The Leicester Partnership has six strategic theme groups and two 'cross cutting' groups.

All of these groups are aligned to the One Leicester strategic priorities. These groups in turn work with a number of further groups and partnerships who focus on delivering action against particular aspects of each theme.
