Does your organisation involve volunteers? Please refer this item about a network for managers of volunteers to the manager/s of volunteering in your organisation.

The Volunteer Network provides a space for reflection, learning, creativity and inspiration. Discussions cover a range of issues of interest to managers of volunteers in the voluntary and public sectors, such as workforce development, and issues in managing volunteers given the different motivation and reward culture in volunteering.

Local transport consultation for people with learning disabilities

Date: Thursday 7 October

Leicester City Council is in the process of developing its 15 year Local Transport Plan - LTP3 and in order to ensure the views of people with learning disabilities and their family carers are heard and taken on board a consultation event is being hosted by Ansaar in partnership with the City Council's Sustainable Transport Team, the Carers Action Group, and the Learning Disability Partnership Board.

Supporting Groups with their ICT - Free Courses

ICT Workshops for Development Workers are now avaiable. These are aimed at development workers and other staff involved in providing support to frontline organisations.

The purpose of these workshops is to enable development workers to be more skilled and confident about supporting organisations with their ICT needs. The workshop will provide key tools for signposting organisations to appropriate sources of help, including the wide range of ICT resources which are available online.

Funding & Sustainability

Shine - project investment available

Shine is The Health Foundation's new annual award focusing on innovation. Each year they will be looking for ideas that tackle a key challenge to high quality care. The Shine challenge for 2011 is: Find new approaches to delivering healthcare that reduce the need for acute hospital care - while improving quality and saving money.

They are looking to invest up to £75,000 in each of up to 18 projects. Over 12 months, teams will be supported to put their approach into practice to gather evidence about its impact and effectiveness. They welcome applications from teams from across the health service, including the voluntary sector.
