The Fawcett Society campaigns for gender equality in the UK, looking at women's rights in issues such as equal pay, pensions, poverty, justice and politics. The newly formed Leicestershire Fawcett Group is holding a special launch event on the 9 November 2011.

Money for Life, a partnership between Toynbee Hall and Lloyds Banking Group, offers a free financial education service which supports communities and organisations to increase vital money management skills and knowledge (often referred to as financial capability).

Voluntary Action Melton are looking for two resourceful outgoing people with the ability to empathise and encourage, and a wide range of practical skills including one to one listening and organising public meetings. If chosen you will work in Melton and be trained and accredited as one of 500 community organisers in a new national movement.

Selection will be via a local interview and a telephone interview.

Riverside Housing Association seeks a VCS partner organisation for grant bid

Riverside Housing Association is looking to develop a partnership with a VCS organisation that would be interested in delivering support to unemployed tenants and residents in Leicester and Leicestershire to help them move closer to the labour market and/or find work. Riverside has concentrations of housing in South Braunstone, Beaumanor and Kirby Frith, as well as dispersed stock across the city and county.

Invitation to tender - social care services

Leicestershire County Council is looking to procure provision of engagement services to ensure the involvement of customers in the management, planning and design of social care services. Contract Value for year 1 is £95 342. An initial three-year contract will be awarded, to commence in April 2012.
The closing date for submitting tenders is Tuesday 29th November 2011.

Leicestershire and Rutland ProHelp is a group of professional firms that offer advice and guidance for free to not-for-profit organisations across Leicestershire and Rutland. The next deadline for returning application forms for support is Monday 7th November.

Prince's Trust Team Programme - can they help you?

Team is a 12 week full time personal development programme for unemployed 16-25 year olds delivered by Leics Fire & Rescue Service on behalf of The Prince's Trust. Part of the Prince's Trust Team programme involves the group carrying out a two week community project. Previous examples of this involve decorating a community centre, sprucing up a garden/allotment or painting a recreational room at a home for the elderly.

Make a Difference Day

Saturday 29 October is CSV Make a Difference Day, which helps people get involved in volunteering. You can get involved in lots of ways - anything from creating a bus stop garden to teaching IT skills, renovating a homeless shelter or knitting blankets for cats and dogs in shelters. Or you could organise an activity for the day with your family, friends, school, university, charity, community group or company.
