V is here to transform the face of volunteering!

Vinvolved Projects
Voluntary Action LeicesterShire, Diversity Hub, Lighthouse Learning and WRVS are all delivering Vprojects offering a menu of activity for young people. The VTeam is based at Focus, brokering young people into volunteering opportunities. The Vinvolved project at Voluntary Action LeicesterShire works within the City of Leicester and works in partnership with Schools, FE Colleges, Universities and with a number of other organisations.
The Vmedia Hub
Voluntary Action LeicesterShire's Vinvolved Vmedia Hub group were established to create a platform for young people to communicate with each other in the City of Leicester. The group were tasked with creating a brand new young people website using their own ideas and designs.
The purpose of the website is to:
- Give young people the opportunity to share news and information
- Give young people a porthole to share positive & negative experiences around volunteering
- To share information about issues that are important to them
- To give young people an opportunity to have their say through online surveys and questionnaires
- To give young people an oportunity to share news stories written by a team of community journalists
The group have become 'community journalists' reporting on the latest volunteering news for young people from around the local area including their own experiences and attending a variety of events. They then meet regularly to update the website.

A wide menu of volunteering opportunities have been developed in Leicester City schools. We have created opportunities in primary, secondary and special needs schools from helping out in the classroom and sharing books with children to school gardeners, playground activities and after school clubs. At New college Leicester volunteers can help out in the school office and shadow the premises officers to get some hands on experiences. We have created the 'Match Up' programme volunteering opportunities based at New College Leicester to help and support the new Yr 7's to raise achievement levels. This programme will see Yr 11's individually matched up over the year.
