Voluntary Sector Assembly

What is a Voluntary Sector Assembly?

A Voluntary Sector Assembly is a partnership of Voluntary and Community Sector groups and organisation within an agreed geographical area.

An Assembly aims to:

  • Create a single voice or strong voice for the Voluntary Sector
  • Provide a mechanism for strategic partners to engage with the VCS
  • Respond collectively to consultations and support individual organisations in their response
  • Enable cross cutting themes to be addressed in a proactive way

Where will it cover?

The Voluntary Sector Assembly will cover Leicester City and Leicestershire County and may through a brokered agreement cover Rutland based upon Health and Social Care objectives.

Who is it for?

A Voluntary Sector Assembly is open to all Voluntary and Community Groups. It is not essential that the Group be a registered charity.

Who will it link with?

A Voluntary Sector Assembly will create positive links with Local Authorities, Health Authorities and strategic decision making bodies and key regional strategic bodies.

Links will be in the form of Assembly representation within other structures and Local Strategic Partnerships and the development of working relationships with key officers.
