Extra Support to Volunteer
Volunteer Plus is a mentoring scheme which offers one-to-one support to people with extra support needs.
The project supports individuals into a volunteering role that is tailored to meet their needs.
Who can access Volunteering Plus?
Anyone in Leicester City who needs a bit of extra support to start volunteering can access Volunteering Plus.
There are many reasons a person might need a bit of support. These include low self-confidence, mental health issues, long-term unemployment, language barriers, disability and a range of other challenges.
If you’re not sure whether or not Volunteering Plus might be for you or someone you care for, contact us. We would be happy to answer any questions you might have.
How does Volunteering Plus work?
We have trained volunteer mentors who will support each person into a volunteering role that suits them.
This can include supporting individuals at volunteer ‘interviews’ right through to supporting them in their first few sessions of volunteering.
Most meetings with people who need support are expected to happen here at our Volunteer Centre in Leicester City, but mentors will also be able to accompany mentees to volunteer interviews as well as support them in the initial stages of their volunteering activity.
How can I get started?
To get started individuals can fill out our online referral form for themselves. If you represent an organisation and you would like to refer someone you support, you can also fill out the referral form on their behalf.
Once the referral form is received we will contact you to arrange an initial meeting to make sure that Volunteer Plus is right for you or the person you’re referring.
We will then allocate a mentor who will begin the volunteer journey.
