Submitted by Leicester Centre for Psychodynamic Counselling

On Sunday May 13th the Leicetser Centre for Psychodynamic Counselling (LCPC) will be opening its doors to the public for the “All Ears Kate’s Kounselling Fundraiser” to raise funds to prolong the life of Kate, a student on their Psychodynamic Counselling course who within weeks of giving birth to her first child was diagnosed with cancer.

Kate was studying on the course up until the time when she went on maternity leave to have Ivy and had been hoping to return to her studies after Ivy was born.

Kate is now fighting for every moment she can spend with her family. Her story has already made multiple national and international news sites, with people from all over the world donating to help Kate spend as long as she can with her new daughter, Ivy.

The fundraiser has been designed to provide information about counselling and listening services as this was they way LCPC students and staff had formed friendships with Kate. A fundraiser which embraced these shared passions seemed fitting therefore.

LCPC will be turned into an activity centre for families and individuals to learn more about counselling. Rooms will include a museum outlining different theorists from Freud to the present, two rooms dedicated to understanding Self Care and Mental Heatlh, a Children’s Games room where families can come together and play old fashioned board games.

Funds will be raised through the sale of teas and cakes and an auction of items donated by friends and local businesses.

Leicester Centre for Psychodynamic Counselling will be open from 11am to 3pm on Sunday 13th May at:

12 Princess Road West, LE1 6TP
